Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information is used when you play the mobile game The Last Alive (the "Service"), why, who receives it and the choices you have. QUANTUM IX UNITED INC. ("we", "us") is responsible for the Service. The Service is free to play, shows ads and offers optional in-app purchases. You do not need to sign up to play, and we do not ask for your name, e-mail address or phone number.
1. Information used by the Service
- Game data on your device — story progress (the day you reached, your choices and shelter supplies), codex records, scouting tokens, best records and settings are stored on your device. On Android, a copy is also kept on our game server as saved progress (see below) so that you can restore your game.
- Reminder notifications on your device — the game schedules reminders as local notifications on your device (for example when a new day of the journal is ready or after a few days away). It sends at most 2 a day and none between 10 pm and 8 am. The notification text is created on your device from your game progress: no notification data, push token or device identifier is sent to us or to anyone else, and we do not use remote push notifications. The game asks for notification permission only once, after you agree inside the game, and you can turn reminders off at any time in the game's settings or in your device's system settings.
- Advertising data — the Service uses Google AdMob. When an ad is requested, Google receives your device's advertising identifier (on iPhone only if you allow tracking), IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and how you interact with ads.
- Purchase data — purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. The app receives the product and a transaction identifier on your device so it can deliver the item. We never receive your card or payment details.
- Technical data — the game engine and in-app purchase library from Unity Technologies receive basic technical information (such as an installation identifier, device model and app version) to work properly.
- Anonymous game ID and game results (Android only) — on Android, right after you accept the Terms of Use, the game creates a random game ID and a secret key on your device for every player, whether or not you use Mission link. It keeps them in Google Block Store, which can be carried to a new device by your Google backup, so your progress can be restored if you reinstall or change phones. When our game server is open for this game, the game sends to it: this ID and the key (the server keeps only a one-way hash of the key); your result for each day you complete (day number, completed or not, number of survivors as the score, stars, play time, the country code of your device's language and region setting — not your location — and the time the day ended); weekly goal progress; and play-time summaries (for each 5-minute period, the seconds you actually played and the number of days played — time spent on ads, pauses and menus is not counted). It does not send your name, e-mail address, advertising ID, store receipts or payment details (supplies and records are sent only as part of saved progress, below). Settings shows a short ID for this record so you can quote it when you contact us.
- Saved progress (Android only) — so you can continue your game after reinstalling the app or changing phones, the game uploads a copy of your game data (story progress, choices, shelter supplies, codex records, scouting tokens, best records and in-game settings such as sound) to our game server, linked to your anonymous game ID. When the data changes it is uploaded at most about once every 10 minutes. After a reinstall the game asks whether to load your saved progress. It does not include your name, e-mail address, advertising ID, store receipts or payment details. The copy is used only to restore your game and is never used to decide mission rewards or points. It is deleted when you use Delete my data in Settings or ask us, and after 24 months without use. Saved progress also includes the device model name (for example SM-F721N), so that we can tell which device a save came from. If you choose Get restore code in Settings, the game creates a 12-character restore code. We keep only a one-way hash of it, never the code itself; getting a new code cancels the old one, and a code works once. Entering the code on a new phone lets that phone continue with the same anonymous game ID. Anyone who has the code can take over your saved game, so keep it private. Restore attempts are rate-limited using a hashed IP address and an hourly counter that is deleted after a few hours. Delete my data also deletes the code. If you link missions again after reinstalling, saved progress under your previous anonymous game ID is moved to the new one.
- iPhone and iPad — the iPhone version does not create this game ID or offer Mission link and sends nothing to our game server.
- Mission link (optional, Android only) — if an app signed in to your SuperX account is installed and you choose Settings → Mission link, you confirm the link in that app. A game-specific link number and your progress records (days completed, play time and times, and play-time summaries) are then provided to your SuperX account, so that missions can be checked and benefits given in SuperX services. Nothing is provided unless you link. Purchase information is never shared. Weekly results (weekly goal progress and the number of clears that week) are also provided. The SuperX service uses these records to give points for missions and for the time you actually play; time spent on ads is not counted. Mission link is currently available in Indonesia, the Philippines and Brazil. If you link missions, the game also tells our game server when you last played (a “seen” signal, at most once every 30 minutes), and the server passes it on to the partner app of your SuperX account so that it can show whether the game is still linked. When you disconnect the game or use Delete my data, the link is also released on the partner app side. The game may also check whether the partner app is installed; this check happens only on your device and is not sent anywhere.
- Support e-mails — when you contact us, report an ad or ask for deletion from inside the game, the e-mail draft already contains the app name and version, operating system, device model, game language and, if your device has them, the short number and anonymous game ID, so that we can find your records without asking again. You can review or remove these lines before sending. Your secret key and link number are never included. The game also shows these two numbers so that you can copy them.
- Server texts, settings and notices — after you accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, the game fetches texts, settings and announcements from our game server so that we can fix wording and show notices without an app update. The request contains only the game ID, your device language code and version markers of what the game already has (as with any request, your IP address reaches the server), and no personal data. Whether a notice applies to you (by country or app version) is decided on your device.
- Technical request to our server — like any internet request, requests to our game server reveal your IP address and basic request information (app and platform). We use this only to answer the request and keep the server secure.
2. Why we use it
- to run the Service, deliver purchased items and restore your progress — necessary to provide the Service you asked for;
- on Android, to keep your anonymous game ID and game results on our server so that your progress can be restored on a new phone and, if you later turn on Mission link, results from before you linked can count — necessary to provide the Service;
- on Android, to keep a copy of your game data (saved progress) and, if you ask for one, a restore code on our game server, so that you can continue your game after reinstalling the app or changing phones — necessary to provide the Service;
- to run the mission link you turned on — necessary to provide that feature;
- to show ads that keep the game free, and to measure ads and prevent ad fraud — our legitimate interest, or your consent where the law requires it (see section 3);
- to keep the Service secure and fix problems — our legitimate interest;
- to protect mission rewards from abuse — we automatically review play records, such as the time intervals between game result reports, and, only for users who have turned on Mission link, if automated manipulation is suspected we may withhold the benefits (such as points) of Mission link — our legitimate interest;
- to answer your requests and comply with the law.
3. Advertising and your choices
- EEA, UK and Switzerland — before personalised ads are shown, the Service asks for your consent through Google's consent form. You can change your choice at any time with the Ad privacy settings button in the game's Settings. This button appears only in regions where the law requires it.
- United States — in states with privacy laws (for example California), using ad data for personalised ads can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can opt out at any time with the device controls below: choose "Ask App Not to Track" on iPhone, or delete your advertising ID on Android. After that you will see only non-personalised ads. Where Google's consent tool offers it in your state, the Ad privacy settings button in the game's Settings also lets you opt out.
- iPhone and iPad — the Service asks for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency before any tracking. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your advertising identifier is not used, no ad-consent form is shown and only non-personalised ads are requested. You can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android — you can delete or reset your advertising ID in your device settings (usually Settings → Google → Ads or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Non-personalised ads are still based on context such as the app and your approximate location, and Google still uses some data to measure ads and prevent fraud. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
4. Who receives information
We do not sell your personal information for money and we do not share it with data brokers. Information goes only to these providers, each for the purpose listed:
| Recipient | Purpose | Information | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google LLC (AdMob) | Show and measure ads, prevent ad fraud | Advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device and app information, ad interactions | United States and other countries where Google operates |
| Google LLC (Google Play) / Apple Inc. (App Store) | Process payments and refunds | Purchase and transaction information (handled under their own privacy policies) | United States and other countries |
| Unity Technologies | Run the game engine and the in-app purchase library | Technical information such as an installation identifier, device and app information | United States and other countries |
| Amazon Web Services, Inc. | Host our game server (Android only) | Anonymous game ID, saved progress (a copy of your game data) with device model, restore-code hash, game results, weekly goal progress, play-time summaries, progress, IP address and basic request information | United States |
| SuperX account — operated by MIBC Inc. (only if you turn on Mission link) | Mission check and benefits in SuperX services | Game-specific link number, progress records (days completed, play time, times, play-time summaries); weekly results | The country of the SuperX service you use |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of us.
5. International transfers
The providers above may process information outside your country, including in the United States. The information is transferred over the internet when you use the Service. Where required (for example for users in the EEA and UK), transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses used by these providers. Users in Korea: the items, recipients, countries, purposes and timing of overseas transfers are listed in section 4, and retention periods in section 6; you may refuse personalised advertising as described in section 3.
6. How long information is kept
- Game data on your device — until you delete the app or its data.
- Advertising data — kept by Google under its own retention policy.
- Anonymous game ID, saved progress, overall progress (highest day reached, numbers of plays and clears, total play time, country) and link information on our game server — deleted 24 months after you last open the game or complete a day (in practice between 24 and 25 months), or earlier when you delete it (see section 8).
- Individual day reports — deleted automatically after 30 days (only your overall progress is kept).
- Daily play counts and weekly goal progress — deleted automatically after 50 to 60 days.
- Play-time summaries (5-minute periods) — deleted automatically after 3 days; the marker used to ignore a summary sent twice is deleted after 7 days.
- Server request logs — kept for 14 days for security and troubleshooting, then deleted. The server does not store your IP address separately.
- E-mails you send us — as long as needed to answer you and meet legal obligations.
7. Children
The Service is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights and deleting your data
Depending on where you live (for example in the EEA, the UK, Korea or US states such as California) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, to opt out of personalised ads, and to withdraw consent. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
- Uninstalling the Service deletes the game data on your device. The anonymous game ID kept in your device's secure storage is not removed by uninstalling.
- Server data (Android) — two ways to delete it. (1) In the game: Settings → Delete my data deletes your anonymous account, progress records and any mission link on our server. The game replaces its local anonymous ID and pauses server saving until you complete another day or start a new mission link. Your local story progress and records remain on your device; deleting the app or its data removes those local records. (2) By e-mail: write to support-tla@lfbe.io with the short ID shown in the game's Settings, so that we can find your records, and we will delete them and any mission link within 30 days. Use this if the delete button is not shown (for example while our server is unavailable) or you have already uninstalled the game. Play-time totals already attached to a mission link number are not deleted separately; they expire automatically within 3 days. Deleting ends the mission link, but points and mission records already given in your SuperX account stay with that service and are handled under its own privacy policy.
- To end a mission link, use Settings → Delete my data, or e-mail us as above.
- The iPhone version sends nothing to our game server.
- Ad choices can be changed at any time as described in section 3.
- For any other request, e-mail support-tla@lfbe.io. We reply within 30 days.
Deleting your data also deletes your saved progress and restore code on our game server. Technical markers that cannot identify you expire on their own: duplicate-protection markers for day reports (30 days) and for play-time reports (7 days), shared play-time slots of a linked mission account (3 days) and hashed-IP counters for restore-code attempts (4 hours). We keep no data about you after deletion for security or fraud-prevention purposes. Records already provided to the SuperX mission service are kept under that service's own policy.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority — for example your local authority in the EEA, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or the Personal Information Protection Commission in Korea.
You can also use our deletion request page: Delete my data
9. Security
Information sent between the Service and our server is encrypted in transit, and access to our systems is restricted. No service is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Changes
We may update this policy, for example when we add new features. We will change the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the Service.
